with all the coverage of raul castro filling in for fidel, one interesting tidbit has slipped by largely unnoticed:

"The elder Castro asked that celebrations scheduled for his 80th birthday on Aug. 13 be postponed until Dec. 2, the 50th anniversary of Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces."

postponing his own birthday? that's quite an impressive power! george washington and abraham lincoln together could only postpone theirs by a couple of weeks! if only fidel had thought to postpone all of them by four months, he could be 59 and holding right now...
