Firefox Fixed It!
at least for now, my wacky slow computer seems to not be plagued with the data-mining spyware that glommed onto m$ internet exploder. perhaps having a functional browser will inspire me to post more often? stay tuned...

Personally, I love "bugmenot". It accesses a repository of data for free registration logons. So if you visit the NYT site and don't want to go through the bother of their 'free reg required', with bugmenot installed you just rightclick on the field and select bugmenot. It will automatically fill in a random user name and password and there you are!
