For all that they're demonized as the ruthless shock troops of the Right, social conservatives have been extremely ineffective in advancing their causes politically. By contrast, the gay marriage thing is a campaign that ought to be taught in military staff colleges.

I wish my state (CA) would just decide one way or the other so I could stop protesting and thinking about it. But here come the state courts again, deciding between history, religion and society on one hand and -- Gavin Newsome?! -- on the other.

The "gay marriage thing"? I don't think it will go down in history as a winning campaign. Too much contempt for history nowadays, and too little understanding of genetics and sexual differences, and too much WISHING things were a certain way.
Nowadays, wishing is sufficient.
