politely stating the obvious

update: Wry Mouth wrote these five posts about Proposition 8.

In reference to the whiners still fighting California's Proposition 8, one anonymous viewer responded:
"The folks on the other side of this issue have always painted themselves as the most tolerant, wanting to embrace diversity and it just seems like their conduct is not consistent with that picture."
"Hypocrisy from the left?!? Inconceivable!?!" <\vizzinivoice>

Shouldn't one of them just waved his magic wand and made it alright, or something more elegant than a referendum on the topic?

What is it that 'The Simpsons' character, Nelson Muntz always says, his catchphrase?

This is a very difficult topic to address, because the main objective is to keep people from being lawless and violent.

Unfortunately, the radicalism of the media and the academy - trumping anything that pokes Christianity in the eye as a "good" - promotes and excuses this sort of behavior.

My response has been through my blogging these past few years: if people see that words matter, they'll be less liable to thoughtless action. Unfortunately, that's too high to aim for when militants are beating people and creating a climate where violence is the norm.

Wow... I thought so long and hard on this, and ended up writing a multi-part series in response to a popular Keith Olbermann bit decrying the passage of 8... trying NOT to bang away at the main weaknesses of the anti-8 gang(s), such as Gavin Newsom's ploy to rule the state (and nation) by fiat, nor their hypocritical disrespect for diversity. Anyone interested can link backward from Part 3 of the series here:
